Meet HighlanderAge: 1Gender: M Size: Small Breed: Patterdale Terrier Status: Adopted |
ADOPTED!
Contact Info: Call Sally at 410-257-5866 Highlander is a very energetic, friendly and lovable Patterdale Terrier. He weighs 17 pounds and is 23 months old. He does not do well with cats. He seems friendly enough with other dogs. We generally do not adopt dogs under 20 pounds to children under eight, but Highlander is a study little dog and we will make an exception to children with small dog experience. Highlander is in a foster home. He is totally vetted and ready for his new home. Highlander is a broken coat terrier. Several people have come to see Highlander only to leave disappointed. I must impress upon you that this is a large dog in a small dog body. He will not be a lap dog like a Chihuahua. He loves to play and is toy driven. Highlander is not the dog for your elderly parent's lap. All of the volunteers find him to be a delightful boy. You may not be aware that this is the dog who is all the rage in Britain in flyball competitions. I picture Highlander with a young man or individual who is athletic, and wants a dog one can do agility courses or sports with. Or a home with many children. This is not a dog for the non-terrier enthusiast or the faint-hearted. A Patterdale is a robust, sturdy working stock dog. He needs exercise, and more exercise. Google flyball dog competitions and see if this sport fits your nature. Highlander had the opportunity to be in a home for two weeks with six children. They said he did marvelously with the kids, was housebroken, and, best of all, HE DOESN'T BARK!!!
